[Toys] Kamen Rider Den-O candy toy figure

This is a hard one to really label since I don't know the exact name of the product.

Let's uhhh, let's review it now. Incoming candy toys!

This was a pair of figures I found on eBay one day, plain and simple. They likely came out during Den-O's run in 2007 and feature a Souchaku Henshin-esque gimmick of removable armor. In this case... well, let's get to the actual items in question.

So like I said, this is a PAIR of figures. These were in separate boxes and both featured two form changes (which as Den-O fans know, Den-O has four main forms.) They have removable armor and the respective forms' weapons.

I'll get it out of the way here; The figures proportions are sorta awful. The feet are made in a way that makes it hard for the figures to stand properly, and the hands... you can see how they're shaped. The articulation is very basic as well, but considering these are cheap little candy toy figures, it works well enough. The gimmick is the focus.

For what it's worth, the figures are about 4 inches tall and the weapons can be used by figures (Marvel Legends, GI Joe, etc.) in that scale.

First figure! Sword/Gun!

[SWORD FORM]
Sword Form features some nice painted red armor, which is good considering this is the standard form of Den-O. The back pieces are blank, black plastic. The sword is nicely sized.

The sticker application here is the gold on the head piece, which is covering molded detail so you'd need to carefully run a toothpick through this to get those details to shine through. Yep.

[GUN FORM]
To transform him to Gun Form you change the mask and flip up the chest pieces, just like the show design. The inner portions of this chest piece are where a lot of the stickers go; Again, more detail is used here that you need to use a toothpick on. The mask also has a tiny rectangle of a sticker on it but it has gone missing due to being so tiny and fragile.

Onto the second figure! Rod/Ax!

[ROD FORM]
Here is Rod Form in all his blue glory. Not much to say apart from that. He features stickers on two squares of the chest piece, as well as some nice shiny blue on the shoulderpads. I think he had something on the forehead of the mask, but if he did it's gone now. The rod is also really tall, it's bigger than the figure.

[AX FORM]
The transformation here involves the Rod Form chest pieces being tossed aside based on pictures I've seen on the package (in show they are hidden behind this new chest piece), but there are two holes there for the Rod Form shoulderpads that you can use as an alternative. In any case, now you see more stickers on the shoulderpads as they have now become the chest piece, as well as a couple dots on he shoulders. The axe is of a nice build, looks hefty.

When you have both of these sets, you have the option to use all of these pieces on one figure for an ultimate candy toy Den-O! Preferably used on the Rod/Ax body, since the gold shoulders are only on that one. The other figure conveniently can be used with the unpainted back pieces to make Plat Form, the unarmored body that is seldom used.

I kinda think this was intentional on their part. I mean, The gold shoulder bits have a specific tiny peg on the front that fits into the hollow peg of Sword Form's shoulder pieces, and are used for nothing else. There's also screw holes on the back for the Sword Form shoulder pieces to store when the other forms are in action. Hard to explain. It just all fits perfectly together, plain and simple.

[WING FORM?!]
If by some miracle you find this guy, he's a neat package. My word of advice would be to go in knowing your're not getting that great of a figure build-wise, but rather a figure that is made to sport four different Rider forms in a simple, cheap way. Judge how much you would want to spend. I got him for about $20 if memory serves, which I'm okay with. You might want your climax at a cheaper price. Either way, thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed.

As a quick plug, the Transformers forum TFW2005 has a new brother of justice: TokuNation. You can see me there as Malunis where I talk about Sentai, Kamen Rider, and other forms of spandex-wearing superheroes from the far east. See you there!
