Anyway...
Surprisingly,
I've not collected Sentai stuff. They're only now making a big splash
in the action figure department (with figures I can't normally afford
now...), I'm not a huge enough fan of the mecha designs to spend that
much money on a huge toy, and their roleplay toys really aren't my
thing. So I'm a loss when it comes to showing my Sentai love.
But then Go-Busters introduces a robot that transforms into a bike, and furthermore in a tiny scale I can afford to buy. Thank you, Bandai. Incidentally, no, this was not a model kit, it was split into a few pieces but overall the most work you had to do was... ssstickers.
Right, onto the review.
As you can see it's one of those Japanese toys... ah, stickers. Haven't really found a stickered toy from Japan that I'm satisfied with, although the Den-O figure's stickers work well enough. These I was okay with for the first few hours then had to remove some, using paint in its place. No pics available.
As far as bikes go he's not bad. For Transformers fans, he's juuust a bit smaller than the Arcee/Chromia bikes used in the Human Alliance sets. The handlebars here are probably too thick to be used, however.
And here we are in robot mode, standing just a smidgen taller than aforementioned Human Alliance figures. So he's in the 3 inch scale. A bit smaller than I expected him to be.
The transformation is probably as accurate to the show as you can get on this budget. The complaints I have are that he has a bit of a backpack (it kinda just hangs out, doesn't tuck away like the show), and his back wheels - which, FYI, just seem to disappear in the show model - hang out on his arms.
He does however sorta justify the latter because he seems to be holding guns with the split wheel halves attached. This weapon appears to be canon since it's seen wielded by the Figuarts version and apparently has now been featured in the show (I still need to catch up...)
Stability in both modes is basically impossible without a wall present, but luckily they remedy this by providing a little stand (shown in both pics) to attach to him. It's a nice thought.
You can also see his kneecaps are black when they should be red. Those stickers were so small they didn't even stick! Speaking of...See those bits of detail on the eyes and forehead? Those tiny tiny little areas are stickers. Possibly the smallest I've had to apply, and I needed a knife to do it. They stick on fine, so I'm not gonna complain. But some of these are just dumb.
So yeah, this was a thing.
Not much else to say; He's tiny, simplistic, good cheap alternative if you REALLY want a figure and don't care about scale or detail. He works well enough.
Next thing I review (unless something else comes up sooner!) will be cosmirrific.
