[Toys] Transformers Generations: Cybertronian Soundwave

Man oh man, a new Soundwave. Let's do dis.

This rendition of Soundwave is located in the Generations line, but to be exact, it's Soundwave as he appears in War For Cybertron/Cybertron Adventures, a standalone Transformers video game. He was released in Generations alongside Optimus Prime, Megatron and Bumblebee, in order to advertise the game. Yep.

The vehicle is a space truck thing. It looks real weird, but I like the look of it for that reason. Always a fan of the weird non-Earthly modes. It's solid and rolls really well. Also, the colors have a nice tone to em.

Soundwave's proportions are a little odd at first. You can make use of his articulation to get him into some nice poses, but that's the nicest thing I can say here. The wheels on the back are a little bothersome and get in the way sometimes, I wish there was a better place for them that didn't feel awkward. The overall look of this guy could use some work, but I've found he grew on me the more I messed with him. Still, he leaves much to be desired.

The only real gimmick he has is how his chest opens up for weapon storage. It's a nice nice throwback to G1 Soundwave with not only his cassette tape storage, but also the weapon storage on the back. It's a nice thoughtful piece of engineering.

And while he doesn't initially designed to do it, you can assemble some sort of futuristic "tape deck" mode based on a scene from the game, which is just plain awesome. Again, it wasn't something they thought of while working on the toy, but still awesome.

Overall, I like 'im. It's a nice addition to my Soundwave collection. Might not be the most perfect rendition of Soundwave, but it's one that appeals to me in many ways. Definitely worth it.
