[Toys] LEGO Minifigures Series 6: Flamenco Dancer

Alright, here's something I've been thinking about how to format... I think what I'll do is just review individual figures. That said, I'll end up with multiple reviews since I've bought a bunch of these lately.

Blindpacked toys are something you may or may not heard of (though chances are if you know me for my Kamen Rider, you have heard of it.) Basically, it's a type of toy - usually small and inexpensive - that is packaged in a box or a bag with no indication of what exactly is inside, hence the name, blindpack. This means you get a surprise!

So, LEGO does blindpacked minifigures. When I first heard about these, I was kind of surprised - surprised they hadn't done this years ago. Or maybe they did and it was overlooked. But blindpacked toys are pretty popular now, I've seen half a dozen kinds at my local toy stores, so I figured it was time to hop on this bandwagon and see what I end up with.

I tried feeling around for parts to see if I could nab a Lady Liberty from this series. After going through numerous bags I thought I found a winner... but I got a flamenco dancer. But that's not to say she's disappointing! She kinda was at first but I like what this one has to offer.

Paint-wise, there's a lot of little detail for the dress, to my surprise the blocky dress piece even has paint work, which REALLY helps make this less of a boring figure. The face is also nicely feminine. The accessory for this gal is a paper fan, which looks really nice with her at the right angles. Also, I like the hairstyle, it's nicely done and feels original. That's something I learned from pictures of these guys - a lot of hair pieces in this blindpack series are made specifically for the series, not all of it is just reused parts.

The bad things to mention... Well, aside from blocky dress piece taking away half of the articulation, it also makes her balance kinda wonky if her arms are out, so keeping her on the display stand is a good idea. Really nitpicky detail I always disliked about using this for legs is that it makes her taller, but that's reeeally not a noticeable thing from a distance.

Who would do such a thing?!

I can't say this is the best thing to receive in a blindpack set (the best thing is what I review next!), but it does show you what you're in for; These LEGO blindpacked figures do many surprisingly good things. They provide characters of a specific job description or theme that you won't see get used very often, they have nice, original pieces made specifically for them, and some nice paint work that's on par with regular LEGO minifigures.

Overall, you're paying 2-3 bucks for a figure on its own without all those bricks that'll probably fall behind the desk and get lost for a few years.

(No hate for LEGO bricks, though!)
