[Toys] Transformers HFTD: Voyager Banzaitron

Heeey guuuys. Been a while! I've gotten a few things since my last review, but I've been busy with other stuff. Not important what, as that doesn't relate to this blog. I decided since it's the Christmas season, I should do something special to make up for the lack of activity. Maybe it'll result in my posting more.

Banzaitron, for whatever reason, was awesome to me just from the moment I saw the name. I loved the look of the G1 toy and felt absolute HATE when they made a modern homage that was exclusive to BotCon. So, seeing this mold that I was fairly interested in being given a name and color scheme of a favorite character? Instant buy.

So, let us review this epic samurai.

By now most people are quite familiar with the Revenge Of The Fallen incarnation of Bludgeon, and have probably snatched that one up as soon as it came out. Myself, I waited until this repaint came out, and I'm glad I did. Something about its colors are appealing to me. Especially the really dark blue/grey tone instead of just black. I like when those tones get used. The neon green is a fine callback to the G1 design and it goes well with the dark.

The tank itself? Very nice. Looks sturdy. Feels sturdy. It can kind of roll, but not too well given how the treads are built. I kind of wish the turret could move around more, but that's a minor complaint for an otherwise nice tank.

In robot mode, this guy is one of those kind that may not look QUITE good in pictures, but when you have it in hand and can fiddle around with it can look good. The transformation is a bit weird and messy, parts hitting into parts and all that, somethings feel like they're not supposed to move a certain way when they do, but satisfying in the end.

The articulation is average, I'd say. Nothing too limited aside from no waist movement. The legs are on a ratchet joint, though, so they may be a little limited to certain positions.

One of my favorite parts about this guy is the fact that the tank turret can be pulled out to reveal his katana! It's a clever weapon storage. Furthermore, you can open up the turret base to reveal a hidden knife, for extra weaponry! In addition to this, you can also see in the previous image, that the katana can be stored on the waist armor. There's also an additional slot for the knife. Very nice gimmicks.

Overall, Banzaitron is a winner of a toy to me. He's a bit complex at first, some of the design is weird, and overall I'd assume Bludgeon is more of a seller than this guy, but if you missed out on Bludgeon this isn't a bad alternative. Give him a chance.

Look forward to more roboty goodness in the future!
